Demand Justice for Dog Victim in Brutal Domestic Violence Case

The cycle of violence is heartbreakingly clear in one of the most brutal cases we've seen involving a woman who was nearly killed by her partner in a domestic violence case in Pennsylvania that also tragically involved the death of her beloved dog, Ozzy. Join us in urging the maximum penalties in this case to ensure the offender is strongly discouraged from ever hurting anyone like this again.

On February 8, 2022, Kevin Jara-Sanchez shot at his girlfriend and missed, before he resorted to throwing a knife at her, which also missed, and throwing her to the floor, where he beat her within an inch of her life using the butt of the empty gun, a rolling pin, his hands, feet, and then choked her until she passed out, and finally sexually assaulted her.

She was left with 15 broken ribs - seven on one side and eight on the other, a collapsed lung, internal bleeding, a broken wrist, and was bruised from head to toe. She was admitted to the intensive care unit and required a blood transfusion.

She only made it to the hospital the next morning after pleading with Jara-Sanchez to take her and agreeing to lie and say her injuries had been caused by an accident. Fortunately, she later told her mother what happened, who then informed the hospital, which informed the police.

Later that day, Jara-Sanchez was taken into custody and investigators obtained a search warrant for the property. Officers discovered multiple bullet holes throughout the house, along with the knife's damage. Jara-Sanchez had been previously convicted of assault and was banned from possessing firearms.

Sadly, there was more than one victim in this horrifying case. The victim informed officers that her dog Ozzy had been in his crate in the laundry room behind her when Jara-Sanchez was shooting, and he fatally struck him. She asked that his body be moved outside so she could see him after returning from the hospital, but officers discovered his body in a wood stove.

Jara-Sanchez faces charges including felony aggravated cruelty to animals, criminal attempted homicide, felony sexual assault, felony rape, four counts of felony aggravated assault, felony strangulation, and felony possession of a firearm.
