We're Ushering in a New Era for Sheltered Animals

Through our Justice for Animals Campaign, In Defense of Animals is aiding two organizations, Grenada Friends of the Animal Shelter and Winona Animal Advocacy Group, along with area animal control officers to do many progressive things for animals. We're working together to develop protocols and adoption policies, manage animals for transport and adoption, and preparing for fundraisers. We're also working to amend the Grenada Animal Ordinance. These issues have all become priorities with encouraging results. The volunteers and animal control officers involved have become a force for great change for these shelters and the animals they serve.

There's an atmosphere of excitement in seeing the changes that have begun and the number of animals that are being adopted and placed through transport. Hope Animal Sanctuary is helping with the transport of a number of the Winona Animal Shelter canines. These activities reflect the willingness of municipalities to work with non-profit animal protection organizations which offer experience, a spirit of cooperation, and resources that municipal shelters need when working to see that surrendered and impounded animals receive humane care and the best advantages possible for adoption.
