We stood in solidarity with Rabbi Jonathan Klein of Faith Action For Animals, who is a member of our Interfaith Vegan Coalition, to protest the slaughter of chickens for the Jewish ritual of Kapparot and encourage the Hebrew Discovery Center in Woodland Hills, California to replace chickens with coins in this annual ritual intended to release participants from their sins. Rabbis around the world now use coins to conduct this ritual, which claimed the lives of over 60,000 chickens in New York City alone.
