Virtually Attend An Event: Animal Story: Amazing Animal Escapes & Rescues
We’re excited to partner with Compassion Arts on Animal Story, a free virtual program on Friday, November 10, 2023, about the power of storytelling in animal advocacy, for the Compassion Arts Festival happening November 8 - 12. Join us for inspiring stories of farmed animal escapes and rescues by filmmaker Jusep Moreno and acclaimed author Victoria Moran hosted by our own Campaigns Director Lisa Levinson.
Matilda and her piglets from When Pigs Escape.
The first program in this series highlights two stories of how farmed animals found their freedom through film. The documentary When Pigs Escape, by Jusep Moreno, tells the story of a pig named Matilda who escaped from a farm to give birth to her piglets and the people who helped her find sanctuary. The fictional journey of Miss Liberty, a story and film in development by Victoria Moran and William Melton, explores the journey of a dairy cow who escapes from a slaughterhouse, and the impact she has on the people surrounding her.
The Animal Story program also includes co-partners host Lisa Levinson and co-director Zipora Schulz along with Ellie Sarty of Compassion Arts to explore the power of story in creative peaceful advocacy for cultivating compassion for other animals and seeing them more deeply.
