Urgent: Animal Victims of the Israel-Hamas War

Dear Members of Knesset & Israeli War Cabinet Members,
We are a group of Israeli animal organizations and sanctuaries representing thousands of Israeli citizens, plus international animal organization In Defense of Animals. Together we represent millions of international citizens.
The situation of animals in the war zones has gotten out of hand, and we urge you to please act immediately on behalf of animals caught in the war zone in Israel and in the Gaza Strip.
This is what we have been seeing while volunteering in the northern and southern war devastated areas:
1. Animal Starvation
The complete restriction on the entry of animal food into Gaza since October 9 has left animals in desperate need of essential supplies. The only animal organization in Gaza, Sulala Society for Animal Care, has only enough food for a week. On December 25, its 520 animals will also begin to starve to death.
Please either allow animal food onto aid trucks, or bring in animal food for distribution urgently.
Sulala Society for Animal Care has provided a list of the most important needs for animals in Gaza right now:
- Cat and dog food (dry and canned)
- Veterinary medicine supplies, focusing on anti-parasite medication
- Food for donkeys, horses, and birds
We understand that the logistics of including animal food supplies in aid deliveries may present challenges. However, we believe that with your expertise, influence and reach, effective solutions can be found. Your work to get animal food and veterinary supplies onto humanitarian aid trucks will have multiple benefits, including prevention of disease, which is critical in crisis situations.
2. Animal Rescues in Gaza
Additionally, Israeli soldiers have begged for our help to rescue animals in terrible distress from Gaza, where they meet cows, goats, dogs and ducks roaming and looking for food. Some have been beaten and many have scars. Since we do not have permits or arms, we cannot go into the warzones to rescue these animals. 3. Animal Rescues on the Northern Border Moshavim
On the northern borders, we continue to request access to chicken factory farms destroyed by missiles but are not being provided the ability to rescue the surviving chickens (in areas such as Shtula and Kfar Giladi) and the ones who have been injured by missiles. We aren't even allowed in these evacuated areas to assess the damage and animal lives lost to this side or the war.
Please allow rescue teams to access animals caught in the middle of the war zone, both in Gaza and in the moshavim at the northern border.
Animals have no political agenda. They are innocent victims of circumstances beyond their control. We urge you to hear our collective appeal from Israeli animal organizations and begin your urgent action to ensure supplies reach them this week.
We kindly request that you work urgently to facilitate the entry of essential animal aid and allow us to rescue animals caught in the conflict.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Your leadership and immediate action today will make a significant difference to save the lives of countless individuals affected by the conflict.

חברי כנסת ישראל וקבינט המלחמה היקרים,
אנחנו קבוצת של ארגונים ומקלטים לזכויות בעלי-חיים המייצגים את קולם של אלפי ישראלים, בשיתוף עם ארגונים בינלאומיים להגנה על זכויות בעלי-חיים, אשר יחד מייצגים מעל לחצי מיליון אזרחים ברחבי העולם.
מצב בעלי-החיים שנקלעו לאיזור המלחמה יצא מכלל שליטה, ואנו מפצירים בכם לפעול באופן מיידי לטובת בעלי-החיים אשר נלקעו לאיזור המלחמה בישראל וברצועת עזה.
זה מה שראינו בזמן התנדבות באזורים הפגועים בצפון ובדרום הארץ:
1.
רעב בעלי חיים
ההגבלה המוחלטת על כניסת מזון בעלי-חיים לתוך עזה מאז ה-9 באוקטובר הותירה בעלי חיים רבים בצורך נואש לאספקת מזון חיונית. לארגון החיות היחיד בעזה, חברת סולאלה לטיפול בבעלי-חיים, יש מספיק מזון לשבוע אחד בלבד. ב-25 בדצמבר יתחילו גם 520 בעלי החיים ברשותה לגווע ברעב.
אנא אפשרו הכנסת מזון לבעלי-חיים במשאיות הסיוע, או ספקו בדחיפות מזון לבעלי-חיים להפצה ברצועה.
חברת סולאלה לטיפול בבעלי-חיים סיפקה רשימה של הצרכים החשובים והדחופים ביותר עבור בעלי-חיים בעזה:
מזון לחתולים ולכלבים (יבש ורטוב)
אספקה וטרינרית, בעיקר תרופות אנטי-פרזיטיות
מזון לחמורים, סוסים וציפורים
מובן לנו כי הלוגיסטיקה של הכללת אספקת מזון לבעלי-חיים במשלוחי הסיוע עלולה להציב אתגרים מסוימים. עם זאת, אנו מאמינים שעם המומחיות, ההשפעה והיכולות שלכם, ניתן יהיה למצוא פתרונות אפקטיביים. אספקת מזון לבעלי-חיים ואספקה וטרינרית למשאיות הסיוע ההומינטרי בזכותכם יכולה להוות יתרונות רבים, כגון מניעת התפשטות מחלות, שהיא קריטית במצבי משבר.

הצלת חיות ממושבים בגבול הצפון
בגבול הצפון, אנו ממשיכים לבקש אישור גישה לחוות עופות שנפגעו מפגיעת טילים, אך לא מקבלים את האישורים הנחוצים כדי להציל את התרנגולות ששרדו (באיזורים כגון שתולה וכפר גלעדי) ואלו שנפצעו מפגיעת הטילים. אין לנו גישה לאיזורים האלו כדי להעריך את הנזק ואת מספר החיות שנהרגו כתוצאה מהלחימה באיזור זה.
אנא אפשרו גישה לקבוצות חילוץ על מנת שיוכלו להציל חיות שנקלעו לשדה הקרב בעזה ובמושבים בגבול הצפון.
