Block Party for Vegan Advocacy Saves Animals

Block Party for Vegan Advocacy Saves Animals

Our Interfaith Vegan Coalition member organization Committee of Consciousness organizes and joins outreach events of all kinds to introduce vegan food in underserved communities. On April 13, we sponsored two of its vegan outreach events in Richmond, Virginia. Check out the festivities!

The Committee of Consciousness (COC) hosts The Black Vegan Experience, a collection of educational conferences and vegan festivals across the United States, to empower people via education while removing social stereotypes surrounding Black culture and veganism.

At the first Block Party of 2024 in Woodland Crossing, a subsidized housing community, Nu Vegan Cafe served vegan lunches. Other activities included bike repair by The Soldiers Bicycle Ministry, fresh produce from 5 Loaves Mobile Food Pantry, and baby supplies from The Liberation Center. By sharing vegan food and health resources as part of this Block Party and others, we can reduce animal suffering in the animal agriculture industry one conversation at a time.

Afterward, the COC hosted its first Reggae Party with music, dancing, a photo booth, and vegan meals, food samples, and literature. COC is hosting Block Parties where people from all backgrounds can be exposed to the message and taste of veganism by “loving people, showing kindness, and serving change.”

You can follow the Committee of Consciousness on Facebook for upcoming events.
