Memorial Honors Animals Who Perished in Orange County Wildfires

Memorial Honors Animals Who Perished in Orange County Wildfires

When wildfires broke out in Orange County last October, residents were terrified and anxious about the welfare of their animal companions. In Defense of Animals rescued horses on the front lines and donated to local rescue groups providing refuge and medical aid to burn victims. Then we co-hosted a memorial ceremony to honor the domestic and wild animals who died or were injured in the fires.

Please watch our video highlights of the memorial ceremony.

We thank the performers, legislators, firefighters, and local clergy who participated in the ceremony, which was the first of its kind to honor animal wildfire victims.

If your community suffers an animal-related tragedy, please contact our support line for resources and free counseling at (800) 705-0524, activistsupport@idausa.org.
