Thanks to the many letters you have sent over the past several weeks and months, six important animal protection bills have passed the California Legislature and are now headed to or already on Governor Gavin Newsom's desk. If passed, they will prevent the unnecessary suffering and subsequent slaughter of countless animals. Please join us in urging the Governor to sign these bills into law and help make our state a more compassionate place for all its residents!

The bills include:

- AB 1260: Bans the trade in skins of many threatened species including sharks, hippos and caimans
- AB 733: Begins phasing out toxicity tests that involve cruelly poisoning and choking fish to death with hazardous waste
- AB 1254: Bans the trophy hunting of bobcats
- SB 313: Bans the use of wild animals in circuses
- AB 128: Strengthens California's anti-horse slaughter laws by making it harder for kill-buyers to turn a profit
- SB 1: Prevents weakening of endangered species protections

Instituting this legislation will solidify California's place as a leader in animal protection reform and set an excellent humane example for other states to follow!
