Heartfelt Messages About Dogs and Cats Launched Via Poster Tour in China

"Your loving heart disappears the moment you swallow cat or dog meat,” is one of the signs written by a student during a poster tour visiting schools, universities, and malls throughout China. Local Chinese groups launched the tour which promotes cat and dog welfare education, reaching about 160,000, by displaying students’ artwork with heartfelt messages. Most messages were about the students' relationships with dogs and cats but others included messaging about the horrible meat trade and the accompanying animal companion thievery that's a part of the trade.

Roughly 10 million dogs are killed in China each year for consumption. Many are believed to be stolen companions and strays because China does not have any large breeding facilities to support this annual consumption statistic. With education and continual awareness by local and international groups, we all hope to see an end to this horrific industry sooner than later.
