WATCH: We Can Save Mongolia’s Homeless Animals!

WATCH: We Can Save Mongolia’s Homeless Animals!

Our dream to end stray dog and cat killings in Mongolia is one step closer! Until then, we have an urgent plan to stop homeless animals from suffering and dying without diagnoses.

Mongolia is a vast country with an enormous animal overpopulation problem. While some animals are spayed or neutered, receive some medical attention, and have guardians of some sort, others suffer the agony of being shot or poisoned to death, with no one to care for them. In winter 2021, you joined our campaign calling on Mongolia’s politicians to finally begin to address the homeless animal crisis.

Your voice is making a difference!  We delivered your comments via email, and we also hand-delivered the letter you signed to Mongolian politicians at a special event in Ulaanbaatar organized by our partner, Lucky Paws. We are thrilled to share the news that the Pet Law bill has now been officially presented to parliament and is under review! If passed, it will give animals in Mongolia some important legal rights for the very first time.

Our Communications Director, Fleur Dawes, presents your letters to representative Enkhbayar Battur urging politicians to pass Mongolia’s first animal rights law. This was made possible by a grant from the Community Solutions Program, a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department, implemented by IREX. We are doing everything possible to see the country’s first animal protection law officially on the books. However, this law cannot protect the animals who are hurting and dying right now…

That’s why we are asking you to take part in something very special.

Homeless animals in Mongolia are desperate for something so basic, it will shock you.

Imagine being told your dying companion can’t be helped, only because there’s no equipment to do a simple X-ray. It’s unbelievable and it’s heartbreaking! But that’s exactly what’s happening for the roughly 750 sick and injured animals every year who are brought in for veterinary care.

It’s devastating. It’s unfair. But we can do something about it!

Animals like Patricia, pictured at the top of this page, are desperate to get off the streets. When we found her, there were no foster homes available. We gave her all we could: food, water, and cuddles. But with nowhere to go, Patricia is likely to have rocks thrown at her, become feral and unadoptable, or get hit by a vehicle.

Don’t let it end like this for homeless animals.

We have set an ambitious goal, and we need you to make a difference. Together we can provide X-rays for injured and homeless animals. We urgently need to raise $30,000. That will cover the costs to buy, ship, and install an X-ray machine, as well as maintenance and operator training.

Homeless animals are suffering and dying without any diagnoses. Their survival depends on you. Please pledge your gift to buy the X-ray machine for Lucky Paws today!
