The weeks and months ahead are shaping up to be an exciting (and meaningful) time for our Central Coast community. From hands-on rescue work to social events that bring animal lovers together, here’s a look at what’s recently happened and what’s happening soon.

We’re kicking off March with the completion of our fence project – an important effort that provides a safe, sturdy new enclosure for our cows. Construction began in early February, and despite rain and wind impacting timelines, the local Central Coast team at Fencing 101 wrapped up before Daylight Saving Time kicked in. We’ll have more about that soon.

March also brings a heartwarming rescue effort as we transport ex-racing turtles from Brennan’s Bar in Marina Del Rey to Freedom Farms. You might remember these turtles were at the center of a big campaign, and now they’re finally free! We’re rebuilding a partially-shaded pond where they can thrive, so stay tuned for more!

Looking ahead to April, we’re excited to open the Freedom Farms house as a rental for animal-loving guests. It’s a new way to support our mission while inviting people to experience sanctuary life firsthand.

Also launching in mid-April: Top Dog Trivia Tuesdays, a fun weekly benefit that supports our work with knowledge, laughs, and compassion. This will take place at Top Dog Cafe Bar & Restaurant in Morro Bay.

As summer approaches, keep an eye out for our Summer Music Series (May–August, dates and locations coming soon), plus Central Coast Vegan Month in May — a month where we will promote vegan food items at area restaurants.

And in June, we’ll be out in full force at Santa Cruz Veg Fest, where we’ll be connecting with the broader vegan community throughout California.
