Even though it was September, the temperatures hovered near 100 degrees in Mississippi. In the brutal heat, a lone black dog in desperate need of water, food, and care, wandered near a family’s home. 

The kind family worked for days to gain the trust of the emaciated dog. Finally, with patience and kindness, they were able to convince him to come to their home. The family quickly realized the dog needed more care than they could provide and reached out to our Hope Animal Sanctuary for help.

When the dog arrived at the Sanctuary, he was painfully thin. Despite his condition, he was friendly with our staff and other dogs. We named him Fleming and immediately began working to heal his body and spirit. 

Today, Fleming is a happy, healthy dog who loves everyone. He enjoys playing fetch and adores his roommates. From being starved, frightened, and abandoned, Fleming has made an amazing transformation in just a few months. Fleming just recently left us for a home of his very own.
