Early one recent morning, a neighbor of our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi found a mysterious box in her driveway. When she went for a closer look, she could hear movement coming from inside and immediately called us for help.

We immediately sent our animal caregivers over to assess the situation and when they opened the box they found a beautiful mother cat and her two kittens. Sadly, the box had been sealed and the mother had been trying to claw her way out.

In this case, it’s fortunate that she didn’t and that we were able to take them in and show them the love and care they deserve. Soon they’ll be sterilized and ready to be adopted into forever homes.

It’s disappointing that someone chose to dump them at all — especially that they didn’t just come all the way to us — but we’re glad we were ultimately able to save them and hope that more people will go the extra mile for animals they can no longer care for.
