In Mississippi, if animals are very lucky, they get help through our Hope Animal Sanctuary. In this case, a dog came to us when her negligent family no longer wanted her. When we asked for her name, we were told, “No name.” Can you imagine a little dog, 5 years old, but still without a name? We decided to call her Baby Girl because she is a tiny baby of a female dog.

This super small canine weighed only 4 pounds and was about 5 years old. She was terrified of everything and everyone. Even though she was afraid, you could see that what she really wanted was to be loved.

We allowed her to approach us in her own time and after about a month or so she decided she was ready. She began coming closer and closer each day. Finally, one day she did not run when we reached to pick her up. What a wonderful day!

She is still a little fearful but with a little time and patience, we know Baby Girl will find the perfect guardian to love her. 

Hope Animal Sanctuary exists in an impoverished area almost completely bereft of services to help animal companions. Thousands of animals are unwanted, neglected, and abused in the region.
