WATCH: Kitten Season Arrives at Hope Animal Sanctuary

Kitten season is a time of the year that we and all cat rescue groups dread. When the weather warms up after a long winter and the days are longer with lots of sunshine, we know that soon we will be inundated with unwanted or abandoned kittens at our Hope Animal Sanctuary.

Every year, the number of stray and abandoned cats and kittens grows larger. Intact cats are finding mates, and pregnancies abound.  Even with a spay and neuter program for low-income families that we initiated, the numbers grow.

A few weeks ago, a family reached out asking for our help with kittens born to their intact female cat. They were fond of their cat, yet failed to have her spayed. They knew they were not able to care for five kittens. We offered to take the mom and kittens in at our sanctuary. The little family would stay with us until the mom weaned her kittens. A few weeks after weaning, the mom would be spayed and returned to her family.

These five kittens will be leaving us at the end of June, heading to the Northeast to new families.

Your kind donations allow us to save these precious kittens and prevent more unwanted babies.
