Puppy And His Family Have Two Young Guardian Angels

Meet little puppy Jaan (in Hindi “jaan” means “my love”). Baby Jaan lives on the streets of India with his mother and siblings. While one might think he and his family were alone and abandoned on the streets, there were two kind boys who always take good care of the four-legged family.

Food is made for them every day and they are fed under the watchful eyes of the moms who cook the food. The families have, in a sense, come together in a beautiful way. While Jaan and his family might not have a forever indoor home, they are lucky to have people always watching out for them. Through our Out Patient Department (OPD), the poor of the city are able to become strong guardians for homeless animals.

Most would have to, unfortunately, leave the animal as is, or do whatever they guess is best. However, because of the services provided by our OPD — including veterinary services for a basic, minimum charge — Jaan’s guardians are able to support him without it being too much of a burden on their families. This encourages them to continue with their work with homeless animals because they know they have an organization and support system that they can fall back on.

Oftentimes, there is a line of patients waiting for the vet to get in for the day. Jaan’s guardians recently returned to the vet to get treatment for Jaan after he met with an unfortunate accident. His back leg was swollen and painful. They continue to bring him in every day for treatment.

They carefully all ride in together on a nice red bicycle and Jaan is getting better every day!
