Street Dogs Deserve Care Too

Street Dogs Deserve Care Too

There’s always work to do for animals at IDA India’s Turbhe Centre. Some days, the work is harder and the some of the cases are much more severe than others. Few things, however, are as bad as maggot-infested wounds.

Our IDA India team at the Center met Blacky, a male dog, very late in February. Rajdhani Sweets, a compassionate citizen who saw an animal in need, leapt into action, and brought the dog to us. When we got a look at Blacky, we saw a terrible maggot wound on his neck.

After daily treatment and dressing, and lots of love, Blacky is now in a normal condition again. We released on him in April, but not before giving him an anti-rabies vaccination and ensuring that he was in good health.

This work wouldn’t be possible without our supporters and the hard work of Dr. Londhe and his team who give 100 percent for the dogs and animals in their care. Street dogs may not have easy lives, but the world is a little bit better for them when empathic people like Blacky’s rescuer keep an eye out for them. They remind us, all the time, that not all people are cruel.
