In 2019, we rescued more than two dozen dogs who were crammed into cages headed for slaughter with our partner Jindo Love Rescue. Since then, most of them have been adopted into loving homes, but a few special souls are still waiting, including Benny.

We believe Benny was around 10 months old when he was rescued off the Buyeo meat truck, and he’s been with us ever since. He is still a little shy, but he’s so gentle and has made some amazing progress in our care, despite the trauma he experienced.

Not only is his story unique, but so is he. Benny is a rare and endangered Donggyeongi, a breed native to South Korea whose members have naturally bobbed or very short tails. Donggyeongi were even designated a Natural Monument in South Korea in 2012. 

He’s now been with us for over seven years, and we want so badly to see him experience life in a home — we know he’ll thrive with the right adopters, who will be patient and give him the time and space he needs to adjust to a new life.

Ideally, since Benny relies on other dogs for comfort, it would be a home with another gentle, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes and overcome his fears.

Along with Benny, we still have three other dogs who were rescued from the same truck, including Angel and bonded brothers Sam and Troy, who are also waiting for the perfect home.
