Community Cat Shelter Building Workshop A Success!

Community Cat Shelter Building Workshop A Success!

This past Saturday, February 15, we co-hosted a community cat shelter building workshop at Blue Ghost Brewing Company in Fletcher, North Carolina with Sister Kitten Animal Rescue. Several dozen volunteers came together to build insulated shelters for caregivers of community cats under the helpful instruction of our very own Eric Phelps, now the founder of Sister Kitten. The shelters will provide cats with safe, warm, and cozy spaces to get out of the cold.

Community cats make their homes outdoors and are fed and cared for by one or more human caregivers Moderated through a process called trap-neuter-return (TNR), their numbers are kept down humanely. Community cats are generally unsocialized to humans and because of this, they’re often unadoptable.

The shelters are free for community cat caregivers and available to pick up at Blue Ghost Brewing Company, 125 Underwood Road, in Fletcher, North Carolina. If you're in the area and would like some shelters for your community cats, but don't have transportation, please email Eric Phelps at and they will be delivered to you.

Thank you to our co-hosts, Blue Ghost Brewing Company, Sister Kitten, and Teddy and Friends Animal Rescue, and thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help build shelters and to those of you who supported this venture financially!
