Congress is on the verge of passing a dreadful provision added into the 2018 Farm Bill called the King Amendment that could completely erase state-level animal protection laws. Hard-won legislation to protect animals suffering in factory farms, puppy mills, in dog fighting rings (and many more) are at risk of being annihilated. This is our final chance to stop the Amendment from passing – so we must act now!

This King Amendment, developed by the evil U.S. Representative Steve King (R-Iowa), was hindered in 2014 due to the outrage that ensued, but it has once again risen to the surface and clawed its way into the 900+ page 2018 Farm Bill – updated just once every five years.

The legislative process of the U.S. Farm Bill is grueling. First, the House drafts one, then the Senate, and then the two final drafts are reconciled and signed into law. As it currently stands, the King Amendment has made it into the House draft, but not the Senate draft.

Now these two drafts are being combined, this is our last chance to speak up for animals and make sure this cancerous amendment is thrown out of the final bill for good!
