On a recent cold and stormy day, In Defense of Animals Hope Animal Sanctuary staff were returning from their lunch break when they saw two small puppies in a ditch! They were absolutely stunned to see puppies all alone on this rural road where there are no houses for several miles.

So, of course they stopped and quickly jumped out of their vehicle to get the puppies out of the muddy ditch.  Upon nearing the pups, they heard barking and saw the puppies' mom standing on the ditch bank, making sure they knew she was watching over them. 

The wet and muddy pups were collected with their mom still barking.  Thinking that the mother dog may be feral and that she would need to be trapped, our staff placed the pups in the warmth of their vehicle and once again called to mom.  Imagine their surprise when she ran and jumped right into the truck with her babies! 

They named her Storm and transported the little family to Hope Animal Sanctuary.  In a warm, safe place, Storm proved to be a very sweet girl who only wanted safety for her babies.  Soon the whole family will be headed to forever homes with guardians who will give them the love and care they deserve.
