MEDIA RELEASE: $2,500 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest and Conviction of Minneapolis Cat Abuser
MINNEAPOLIS (July 16, 2024) — In Defense of Animals is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual who threw a helpless cat from a 12th-floor balcony to the pavement below.
It was reported that on June 24, 2024, a cat was thrown from a window at the Parkview Apartments in the 1200 block of N. 12th Avenue. There were multiple witnesses to this crime, including horrified children. Reportedly, one neighbor said the cat was kept by a neighbor who no longer wanted her.
The brutalized cat was aided by Nasteho Abdi, a resident of the high-rise building. She is now in the care of Home for Life Animal Sanctuary and has undergone multiple procedures for her massive injuries. Now named Rue, French for street, she is reported to be recovering and “resilient.”
Minneapolis Animal Care and Control spokesperson Blair Loose reported that the agency had no active case because there wasn’t enough to go on. In a Minneapolis police report the case is classified as closed.
In Defense of Animals is determined to learn who threw Rue to an almost certain terrifyingly horrid death. Anyone with information pertinent to the arrest and conviction of the person who committed this vile act should contact In Defense of Animals at doll@idausa.org, (662) 809-4483.
“Anyone who could throw a cat from a high-rise window is a danger to everyone around them and must be exposed and prosecuted to the fullest. Cruelty to animals is intolerable and no act of violence to an animal should be classified as ‘case closed’ when there is any knowledge that the offender might be identified,” said In Defense of Animals Senior Campaigner Doll Stanley. “If you know anything, please call in your tip right away.”
