WATCH: Freezing Dogs Get Much-Needed Shelters

Responding to concerns from desperate people on behalf of neglected animals is always challenging for our Justice for Animals campaign, but the unexpected twists and outcomes can be sweetly surprising and we do our best to help those trying to help animals with their own limited resources in Mississippi.

This winter, our Justice for Animals Senior Campaigner Doll Stanley joined Tallahatchie County Deputy Scott Ferguson in response to a complaint that there were unsheltered dogs kept outside in the freezing cold. The complaint was justified, but the details were distorted to disfavor the dogs’ guardians.

Within minutes on the property, they came out and shared their affection for their dogs, and explained that they had taken them in to help them and were doing the best they could; even sharing their home with a beloved cat.

With rescues at capacity, and some stretched even beyond, providing Igloos and bedding can provide much-needed protection from the elements. It might not be ideal, but in many situations both dogs and their people are struggling and this can help save lives.

In a region with much poverty and a population of homeless animals, aiding with their sheltering is lifesaving and a welcome gift to those who love them and need help.

Donations are always needed and very much appreciated.
