Peaches and Peggy - A Match Made In Heaven
A few weeks ago we told you about 44 dogs we helped save from a property in Mississippi in partnership with Animal Rescue Corps. While they’re all now getting a second chance to find their forever homes, we wanted to tell you about Peaches, whose happily ever after wouldn’t have been possible without support from people like you.
When we arrived for the rescue, Peaches was underweight, had alopecia and mild tartar, and was heartworm positive, which required medical treatment. When Peaches had all her immediate medical issues taken care of, she was placed with Animal House, which provided the daily care and love that she needed until her forever family was found.
Not too long after she was rescued, Peaches’ forever guardian (Peggy) came into the shelter in search of a companion. Peggy is an active senior who swims, plays tennis, and walks daily, and wanted someone to do all of those things with her. But the right dog just had not crossed her path yet. On her fifth trip to Animal House, Peaches and Peggy locked eyes. Something in those eyes told Peggy that Peaches was the one. For Peggy, it was love at first sight.
Once the happy duo arrived at their new home, there was a lot of introducing to be done. Living inside was something Peaches had never experienced, and it became immediately obvious that she was hesitant and quite unsure. Peggy made sure to buy her a large wire kennel to ensure Peaches had a safe place to go and feel secure whenever she needed to. Apart from her kennel, Peaches found comfort under Peggy’s dining room table. When Peggy could not get Peaches to come out from under the table, Peggy crawled under the table with her. It was then that Peaches wagged her tail for the very first time. Peggy was overwhelmed with joy.
Because of your dedication and compassion, Peaches is now adjusting extraordinarily well in her new life with Peggy. The duo go on walks every morning and Peggy says that Peaches soaks absolutely everything in. When the wind blows, she tilts her head in awe, as if she has never felt anything as beautiful before. Peggy says that you can just tell by her mannerisms and the way she looks at her that she could not be more grateful.
Although it may have taken years for Peaches and Peggy to meet, their paths have finally crossed, their hearts united, and they both get the happily ever after they so desperately wanted.
