VegCrush 2026: Explore Vegan Dining on California’s Central Coast

In Defense of Animals is launching VegCrush 2026, a two-week celebration of the Central Coast's vegan dining and cruelty-free shopping scene, marking the first time a plant-based event of this kind will occur.

Taking place October 5–18, 2026, VegCrush invites restaurants, cafés, wineries, breweries, bars, and retailers throughout San Luis Obispo County to showcase featured plant-based menu items and retail products during the Central Coast's iconic Crush season -- when vines ripen and grapes are harvested. Tourists travel to sip some of the best wine in the world.

Participating businesses will receive promotion through social media, email marketing, local media outreach, digital marketing materials, and inclusion in the official VegCrush dining map and landing page.

As part of the celebration, participating businesses will donate 10% of proceeds from featured VegCrush items to support Freedom Farms Animal Sanctuary in nearby Creston. Operated by In Defense of Animals, the sanctuary provides lifelong care for rescued cows, horses, peacocks, donkeys, turtles, cats, and other animals while inspiring compassion through educational programs and community events.

VegCrush will also recognize outstanding participants with community awards celebrating favorite dishes, beverages, and new offerings, helping spotlight the businesses leading the way in compassionate dining and sustainable shopping.

Partner registration opens in August 2026, with promotional campaigns kicking off in September ahead of the October celebration.

Whether you're a longtime vegan, simply curious about plant-based options, or looking to support local businesses making a positive impact, VegCrush offers a delicious way to experience the best of San Luis Obispo County while helping rescued animals thrive. Please consider donating to support the cow shelter, educational tours, and other special projects to grow the animal rights movement on California’s Central Coast.
