In 2023, we rescued 26 dogs destined for slaughter at a meat farm in South Korea with our partner Jindo Love Rescue. While many of them have since been adopted, there are still two sweet souls waiting for their perfect forever homes.

When our foster mom and volunteers arrived at the Miryang dog meat farm, they found the dogs in deplorable conditions. Fortunately, we were able to shut down the operation and rescue all the dogs who were there.

Since then, we’ve celebrated many adoptions of these special dogs, but two are still waiting for families of their own: Pluto and Akela.

Despite his traumatic past, Pluto is all smiles now. He’s a sensitive soul and still a little shy, but his quirky personality has continued to come out, and we know he’ll form a lifelong bond with people who will be patient with him and show him that nothing bad will ever happen again and that he deserves all the good things in the world a dog could dream of.

We don’t know the entirety of what happened to Akela before we saved him, but we can assume it wasn’t good. At first, he was extremely scared and didn’t trust people at all, but he’s been working with a trainer and has made huge strides in building his confidence.

He’s also still a little shy, but we know that with the right people, he’ll get all the love and patience he needs to continue to work through his fears. We hope to find him a home with another dog who can help show him the ropes.
