A Dog Rescued From a Meat Truck Who Waited Years for a Family Has Finally Been Adopted

A Dog Rescued From a Meat Truck Who Waited Years for a Family Has Finally Been Adopted

In 2019, Raina was crammed into a cage on a truck carrying 28 dogs to slaughter in South Korea when we saved them with our partner Jindo Love Rescue. While the vast majority of them have since been adopted, she has been waiting so patiently this whole time for her perfect forever home — and now she’s finally there.

We don’t know what happened to Raina before we rescued her from that truck, but signs of her traumatic past sadly lingered. During her first day at our foster center, she was understandably terrified.

Unfortunately, our foster center can be chaotic and loud with so many dogs, which wasn’t the best situation for her. We’ve been moving her in and out of our boarding facility, which has done a great job with her, but it still wasn’t ideal and also expensive.

Despite everything she’d been through, she is still the sweetest, most gentle soul and has come a long way since she was rescued.

We continued to hope for someone to see what a good girl she is and give her a chance, and now her time has come. In what was an emotional event for our team, this month, she finally boarded a flight to her forever home in the U.S., and we couldn’t be happier for her. At the airport, she had no idea her life was about to change in the best possible way.

Right now, she’s very slowly adjusting to her new life and reminding us all of how we need to be patient when we welcome a new dog into our homes, especially with dogs who are shy or have had traumatic pasts. While we may be excited, it can be incredibly overwhelming for them, and they need time to settle in.

We’re grateful her adopters are patient, compassionate, and devoted to Raina, and are allowing her to go at her own pace. We know that the environment she’s in is perfect, and this sweet girl will soon be living the life she was always meant to have.

We hope more people will consider providing a home for older dogs, and we still have a few who have also been waiting for a really long time to be chosen, including brothers Sam and Troy, and Angel.

How to Help

If you’re interested in adopting a dog rescued from the meat trade in South Korea, you can learn more about adopting and send Jindo Love Rescue a message on Facebook to start the application process.

Even if you can’t adopt, you can still help by sharing their stories and supporting our rescue efforts by making a donation and spreading the word about our ongoing need for flight volunteers to courier dogs to new homes.
