Special Dog Meat Farm Rescue Looking for a Special Home

Last year we rescued more than two dozen dogs from a dog meat farm in South Korea with our partner Jindo Love Rescue, and now we’re trying to find the perfect forever home for one of these special dogs who was particularly traumatized by the experience.

After we were alerted to their plight, we headed to the property and found 26 dogs living in deplorable conditions who were awaiting a horrifying fate.

Hiro, who we believe is now about 2 years old, was left chained and starving most of the time with nothing but a makeshift shelter, and he was terrified to leave when one of our volunteers tried to take him out.

However, he’s come a long way since that day. He’s still very shy, but he has such a gentle soul and we can tell that despite his past trauma he really wants to be loved.

He gets along well with the other dogs and takes treats but unfortunately, our foster center in South Korea has been a little overwhelming for him, and we’re struggling to get him to relax and eat — he really needs to gain some weight.

We’re hoping to find him the perfect home with an experienced adopter who can help him continue to learn that people can be good, and hopefully in a home where he’ll have a dog sibling who can teach him the ropes in his new life.

In the meantime, in May we’re bringing him to the U.S., where he’ll be fostered in the Los Angeles area and will hopefully be able to continue decompressing. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in adopting Hiro, please contact Jindo Love Rescue on Facebook.

You can also help by spreading the word about our need for flight volunteers and making a donation to support more rescues like this one and the care of dogs at our foster center in South Korea.
