Sweet Mom Dog Who Saved Friends at Dog Meat Farm is Finally Home!

In the spring of 2023, we shut down the Miryang Dog Meat Farm in South Korea with our partner Jindo Love Rescue and some extra help from Cinderella, a special dog who led rescuers to her friends. After two years of waiting for her fairy tale ending, she boarded a flight to the U.S. this month and is now living her best life with her forever family.

This dog meat farm was holding 26 dogs who had been left in deplorable conditions. When our team arrived, they saw two Jindos believed to be a mother and daughter wandering around, who led them to the rest of the dogs. The property owner didn’t want to surrender the dogs and tried to hide the mother and daughter so he could continue to breed them.

We were thankfully able to save them all and named the two heroes who helped Cinderella and Mulan.

Despite everything she had been through, she was still so sweet and loved spending time with volunteers at Jindo Love Rescue’s foster center in Gimhae, and she’d frequently be found hanging out with the younger dogs there.

We hoped to find her the perfect forever home, and we did! This month she took a flight to New York City, and her new family took a 30-hour road trip to pick her up and bring her back to their home in Tennessee.

So far, she’s settling in well and her new parents are amazed by how smart she is and how she has a mysterious calming effect on the neighborhood dogs.

We’re so excited she’s now getting the life she deserves and will never know anything but love and kindness, but there are still many like her waiting to be rescued. While we’re celebrating the end of South Korea’s dog meat trade, we’re also still working to save as many as we can before the ban goes into effect in three years.

How to Help

If you’re interested in adopting one of these sweet dogs, you can learn more about adopting and send Jindo Love Rescue a message on Facebook to start the application process.

Even if you can’t adopt, you can still help by spreading their stories and supporting our ongoing rescue efforts in South Korea by making a donation and spreading the word about our ongoing need for flight volunteers to courier dogs to new homes.

Please also sign and share our alert to help end the dog meat trade in Hanoi, Vietnam.
