Ban Mink Fur Farms to Stop Animal Cruelty & Prevent Future Pandemics!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

The COVID-19 crisis exposed the undeniable truth that fur farming is a dangerous and unnecessary industry. Amidst the pandemic, mink fur farms around the world ordered millions upon millions of infected mink to an early death sentence to stop the transmission of the deadly disease to humans. It is time to finally ban mink fur farming across the country today!

The novel coronavirus pandemic has affected the lives of many individuals all over the world, including humans and other animals. Mink are highly susceptible to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Pair this fact with the crowded, filthy conditions on fur farms, and a disastrous and deadly public health situation is inevitable. Massive outbreaks have been reported in countries worldwide, including Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Greece, Lithuania, Italy, France, Poland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States. Mink on fur farms in Michigan, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin have tested positive for COVID-19. Research now shows that infected mink may contract the virus from humans and can transmit SARS-CoV-2 back to humans. This cycle has led to the development of mutated strains of the virus. Wild mink have also tested positive for COVID-19 in Utah.

Mink on fur farms are forced to live in captivity and are deprived of everything wild animals need to thrive. Mink are crammed into small cages surrounded by the stench of their waste and are forced to endure intense fear, stress, parasites, and other diseases. Their movement is restricted in their cages and the wire painfully digs into their small paws. They wait in terror for their turn to be bludgeoned, gassed, or internally electrocuted. Their necks may be violently broken or they may even be skinned alive.

Fur trim or a coat can never justify the violent deaths of innocent mink and the continued threat to public health that mink farming causes.
