When a concerned woman saw an emaciated dog on the streets of Jackson, Mississippi, it was by sheer luck that our rescue partner, Chris McLaughlin, the Director of Animal Rescue Front, was in a nearby city on business and able to search for an immediate foster guardian.

Thankfully, after just a few minutes, a friend stepped up and agreed to provide a temporary safe space for her. He and his wife instantly fell in love with the dog, and, inspired by her will to survive, named her Hope.

On her road to recovery, Hope surprised everyone when it was discovered that she was pregnant!  Taking care of Hope was easy, but the family felt ill-equipped to care for Hope and her soon-to-be-born puppies.  When Chris asked if we could help this family in need, of course we agreed!

Hope’s foster dad drove her all the way to our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi.  He had not been told anything about the Sanctuary and dreaded the thought of leaving her in a “shelter.”  To say that he was pleasantly surprised when he arrived would be a vast understatement!

He left our Sanctuary that day with a gigantic smile on his face and joy in his heart knowing that Hope would have her very own comfortably air-conditioned house where her babies could be born in ultimate luxury and receive all of the care that they needed and deserved.

Three days after her arrival, Hope gave birth to seven precious puppies, who will soon be ready for loving homes of their very own!  As for Hope, she is heartworm positive and will need expensive treatment to guarantee that she lives a long, healthy life!
