Eight years ago, it was love at first sight when our friend and supporter John, adopted Riley, a yellow lab mix from our Hope Animal Sanctuary. Riley has since passed, but John’s found love again with Kate, who we placed with him. She’s now his new best friend. 

Sadly, Riley passed away suddenly, leaving John heartbroken. Riley was his constant companion and the loss left him reeling.

Back at Hope Animal Sanctuary we were shocked and saddened to hear of Riley’s passing. We immediately thought about a female yellow lab mix we had named Kate. She came to the sanctuary with puppies who her negligent  “guardians” did not want, yet they had taken no precautions to avoid her pregnancy. They also told us they no longer wanted Kate, who is a calm, sweet, and very smart dog.

We found homes for her puppies and began to get Kate, who we spayed, ready for her forever home.

We sent John a picture of Kate, and just like that, he fell in love. John decided to name her Haylie and a few weeks later she was heading off to New Hampshire to lead a wonderful new life with someone who would truly adore her and never discard her. Now, we’re thrilled to share the news that Haylie loves and fits in well with her new home and also that John absolutely loves and cherishes her!
