We don't have a maternity ward at In Defense of Animals India, but when any cat comes to us pregnant with kittens, we try to make the mom as secluded and comfortable as possible so she may give birth in peace.

Two cats were recently brought in for treatment, and both gave birth soon afterwards. We are pleased to report that the kittens are with their moms, and that they are fine, and are enjoying themselves. Each mom is so soft and sweet, and all the kittens can have a drink of nutritious milk whenever they are hungry.

One of the mom cats is very old and came to us in a bad state. Thanks to the tender loving care of our volunteer staff, she has now recovered and is able to enjoy caring for her kittens. The other mom cat gave birth to three kittens but tragically, two died soon after. Now she has one little one to care for, and she gets all her mom’s love.

Sometime we need to care for kittens who are not with their moms. These kittens are taken to the kitten ward, where they spend their time stuffing themselves and snoring until their next meal... relaxing until they get adopted!
