Street Cat in Reel Trouble - Saved!

Street Cat in Reel Trouble-Saved!

Street cats never have it easy, but Tom’s story is a little different than most. In February, a ginger and white cat was brought into an In Defense of Animals India outpatient clinic, frothing at the mouth and clearly in a lot of pain. What our veterinarians found, they had never seen before.

Careful examination revealed that poor Tom had a large fish hook stuck deep inside his mouth, through his gums. It is difficult to imagine the pain he must have been in. Under sedation, the large hook was carefully extracted from his mouth. We believe that Tom ate a fish who had still been attached to a lethal fishhook.

His guardian, Rohan Bansode, was overjoyed to see his much loved friend out of danger. Happy outcomes like these are what Dr Shashikant and all the Deonar team live for.

If this story makes you wince for poor Tom, please spare a thought for fish, and leave them off your dish.

The invaluable work of IDA India is only possible thanks to donations from kind people like you. Please donate whatever you can to save street cats like Tom.

Thank you for caring.
