A Neglected Litter of Great Pyrenees Pups is Now Safe

While we fully support spay and neuter efforts, it’s an uphill battle in a lot of places and unwanted litters of puppies and kittens continue to be born. Thankfully there are also a lot of caring people who want to see them find homes and end this cycle, which is how we ended up with a litter of four beautiful Great Pyrenees puppies at our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi.

There were four of these beautiful puppies born to an unsocialized mom whose guardian never bothered to have vaccinated or spayed. Consequently, she has given birth to puppies every year. While we don’t know what happened to previous litters, we’re thrilled that a concerned neighbor stepped in this time.

The neighbor convinced the guardian to release the puppies to our Hope Animal Sanctuary. When we got them, they were terrified since they had never been touched by humans. However, they are quickly learning that interacting with humans can be good, and they are getting better every day because they are getting a lot of attention and love from our animal caregivers.

When they are fully vaccinated and properly socialized, these puppies will be adopted into just the right homes, and we plan on box-trapping the mom and having her spayed.
