Very Pregnant Dog In Danger of Freezing Gives Birth in Safety at Our Hope Animal Sanctuary

As our Hope Animal Sanctuary was preparing for below-freezing temperatures to hit in Mississippi, we also answered a call for help for a very pregnant dog who would not have survived on her own.

With frigid temperatures predicted to move in, our sanctuary staff was busy preparing for weather that’s rarely seen in the Deep South to ensure all of our residents would stay warm in their tiny houses.

Meanwhile, members of the public were desperately seeking help for a very pregnant dog who had come to a local business, begging to be let in. Thankfully, these wonderful people didn’t turn her away. They brought her in and immediately began looking for help. They posted on social media and sent messages and when we became aware of their plea, we answered the call.

Our staff members rushed to finish getting the sanctuary ready and went to get her.

When they brought her back we named her Tally, and she was grateful to be given a soft, warm bed in her own warm house. A kiddie pool filled with blankets provided a safe and warm place for her to give birth. About a week later, she gave birth to 10 precious puppies!

After they’re weaned, Tally will be spayed and they will all be placed in loving homes where they’re treated as members of the family.
