UPDATE: Remember Butters? She Finally Has a Home!

UPDATE: Remember Butters? She Finally Has a Home!

In February, we told you about a small dog we named Butters who was found seriously injured and also heartworm positive near our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi. We took her in, and we couldn’t be more excited that she’s finally in her forever home.

Butters was dumped a few miles from our sanctuary and found by a kind woman who brought her to us after she was unable to find her guardian.

An injury to her foot needed immediate attention. An X-ray found she had been shot and her leg was filled with hundreds of pellets. With such a large number spread from her knee to her foot, the pellets could not be removed. Our veterinarian suggested leaving it alone since Butters seemed to be walking okay. Sadly, she also needed to be treated for heartworm.

Even though she had a rough start with us, she pulled through and everything worked out perfectly. A few weeks ago, a wonderful woman reached out to our partner Animal Rescue Front wanting to adopt an adult dog, and we knew Butters would be a perfect fit.

We sent her the information and told the adopter her story, and she decided to adopt. It’s a match made in heaven; it was love at first sight when they met, and Butters loves the woman’s grandson.

We’re grateful to our generous supporters who make happy endings for animals in need like Butters possible. You can help us save even more by making a donation.
