New Mist Machines Are Keeping Animals Cool in India
With temperatures rising during the hottest part of the year in Mumbai, our partner IDA India noticed a marked change in animals who were showing their discomfort. While we already have creative ways to keep animals cool, it was decided to install a new misting system to help even more.
Summers can be incredibly harsh in Mumbai, and animals struggle with the heat and humidity. Even with fans and air conditioning in some areas, including our outpatient department, and staff and volunteers spending extra time helping animals cool down, it can still be unbearable.
It was decided to spend some extra money on a misting system across all wards at our Deonar and Turbhe Centers to help bring some relief for animals resting inside.
We saw it bring instant relief to dogs and cats, who were once panting heavily, now lying in peace. Our volunteers watched with quiet satisfaction as wards transformed into cooler, safer spaces that brought a sense of calm back to everyday life.
This small step was worth the added expense to provide animals with relief from the heat and reduce their stress.
