Dog Left Behind at Condemned Home Gets Second Chance at Our Sanctuary

Having to make decisions about our animal companions when things go wrong is never easy, but there are almost always people willing to help. That was the case for Billie Jo, who was left at a house that had been condemned. Thanks to a compassionate neighbor who was helping out, this little dog is now at our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi, where she’s getting a second chance at a new life.

When the neighbor called us for help, she reported that her neighbor’s home had been condemned, forcing the woman to find new housing quickly. Sadly, the neighbor did not take her small dog with her when she left to stay with family. Her dog was left at the condemned home where she anxiously waited for her guardian to return.

The kind neighbor stepped in and helped, hoping her friend would be able to return for the dog. Sadly, this was not the case and after speaking with the dog’s guardian, she called our Hope Animal Sanctuary for help.

Billie Jo was nervous and afraid for the first few days after arriving, but she soon settled in and was only too happy to be held and loved by our staff.

Billie Jo has now been spayed and will soon be headed to a new home.

We’re glad we were able to help Billie Jo, and hope more people will consider planning ahead for their animal companions in the event of an emergency or death, both of which can unexpectedly and tragically happen at any time.
